Construction of US$35m Russey Keo bridge 93% Complete

As of 16 January, the construction of the Russey Keo cable bridge across the Tonle Sap River has been 93% completed, is scheduled to be completed in early April 2023. According to the Department of Public Works and Transport of Phnom Penh.

The cable-stayed bridge is 642 meters long and 20.5 meters wide. It has four cable towers which are 40 meters tall. The bridge also features a 1.25 metres long pedestrian lane on each side of the bridge. The construction of the bride is financed by OCIC with a budget of $35 million.

Authorities confirmed that the bridge will facilitate traffic flow and provide a direct route from the NR 5 and NR 6, as well as provide a new route to the new Morodok Techo Stadium where SEA Game 2023 will take place.

The Russey Keo cable bridge across the Tonle Sap River will make Chroy Changvar becomes a popular city in the future, while Chroy Changvar is a new satellite city after Koh Pich satellite city. Some of the factors that make this area more attractive for investors to invest because the location of Chroy Changvar is in the city, there are many roads, bridges, and easy travel along with the National Stadium of Techo, so investors invest in this area.

We note that this cable-stayed bridge project is one of the other bridges that cross the Tonle Sap River, including Prek Pnov Bridge, Chroy Changvar I Bridge and Chroy Changvar II.

In addition, in 2022, the Royal Government has approved another bridge project across the Tonle Sap, the Cambodia-Korea Friendship Bridge project from the night market to Chroy Changvar and from Chroy Changvar to Arey Ksat.
